An incomplete sentence is called a sentence fragment.
It may resemble a sentence in appearance, but it is missing
a key part or parts.
A complete sentence must include a subject and a verb.
A sentence also must express a complete thought.
Example:
The following sentence is missing a verb.
The horse outside the barn
The horse was outside the barn.
Run-on Sentences
A run-on sentence occurs when two complete sentences are joined into one. The error occurs when the author
mistakenly uses a comma, when there should be either a period, a semicolon, or a conjunction.
Example:
The following sentence should actually be two seperate sentences.
Today I helped feed the homeless, tomorrow I will donate clothing to the shelter.
Today I helped feed the homeless. Tomorrow I will donate clothing to the shelter.
